Tools For Self Reliance.
Stephen Edwards (a partner in New House Oak) is keen
to promote Tools for Self Reliance. The idea is to make poverty
history in Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana, etc. by donating tools, or money
to buy tools to help people in these countries use skills to create
an income within their community.
If you place a hammer and an anvil into a village
and train a blacksmith, tools can be made to enable others to make
clothes, shoes, wooden items and so on. If we provide sewing machines
and basic woodworking tools, then the village is able to create
its own income, helping to making poverty history. We can help kick
start this process with comparitively small donations, making a
big difference to their communities.
If you are local then please drop unwanted tools at
the workshop but it is wise to have a look at the Tools for Self
Reliance website, as they specify the tools that are of most use
to them. Alternatively, there are places all over the country that
will accept tools on their behalf. Donations can be given directly
to them at their main office. For more details, please contact 023
8086 9697.
